I'm getting an odd message when running updates for newsgroups & spots:

Quote
May 09 19:17:03 home-server urdd: INFO Disconnect message:
May 09 19:17:03 home-server urdd: WARNING Cannot get messages:
May 09 19:17:03 home-server urdd: ERROR Connection terminated by server [Unrecognized command] (400)
May 09 19:17:03 home-server urdd: ERROR Error while updating free.pt: Connection terminated by server [Unrecognized command] (400)

I also noticed this:

Quote

May 09 19:28:51 home-server urdd: INFO Disconnect message:
May 09 19:28:51 home-server urdd: WARNING Cannot get messages:
May 09 19:28:51 home-server urdd: ERROR Data stream not terminated with period (0)
May 09 19:28:51 home-server urdd: ERROR Error while updating alt.binaries.books: Data stream not terminated with period (0)

And again, I did look thru the forums, but I may be, as usual, blind.

Thanks for the help!

I've seen something like this happening before ... a long time ago - it had to do with session timeouts then; not sure if it's the same thing tho. What happens before those messages. Perhaps you can switch it to debug logging in admin/configuration and post (or PM) a longer log.
Which usenet provider do you use? Does it use SSL/TLS or plain?

I use usenetserver.com and it supports both plain & ssl.

Here's the clip of that section from debug info

Quote
id   1
name   Usenetsever.com
hostname   secure.Usenetserver.com
threads   3
connection   ssl
port   563
plain_port   119
secure_port   563
authentication   1
priority   10
posting   1
compressed_headers   1
username   me
password   xxxxxx

I can't get urd to give debug level info right now.  I'm starting urdd manually by sudo /usr/share/urd/urdd so I can watch output, but when I do that it doesn't allow me to see/change the logs in the webinterface.  But if I start urdd from the web interface it doesn't seem to do anything.

One thing I am going to try is turning off the compressed headers functiion and see if that works.

[edit]
It took no time at all to start updating once I turned off compressed headers.  Smiley

Compressed headers only works afaik with astraweb. Im not sure what this usernetserver.com supports.

You should be able to control URDD no matter if you start it from the web or from the console. Starting it from the web interface could be a rights issue (or your user is not admin). Or do you happen to have multiple installations at the same time. Can you start it without SUDO? You might have to manually remove a .pid file. The urd directory should be probably be set to rights 775 (directories and urdd.sh) or 664 (all other files) and owned by your user and group set to www-data.

chown g+w /usr/share/urd -R
chown -R you:www-data /usr/share/urd

I'm still experimenting with URD, as I'm not sure it's the solution for me yet, so I'm ok with how it's running right now.

Only 1 installation, and my username is not admin.

One thing I do not see, is way to automagically sort downloads.

My current set up is CouchPotato & Sickbeard scrape NZB's and feed the nzb's to Sabnzbd with category info attached.  Sab then downloads everything into diffrent folders according to category & in the case of TV shows the show name & season folder.  For movies it's just the movie name.

I'd like something like this for URD as well.  I know that URD supports scanning a folder for nzb's, and that would work fine.  But I need the categorization & renaming abilities that Sab has for my current set up.  Otherwise I may have to limit URD to building nzb's for Sab until URD has a, for me, more complete feature set.

well I guess the best way to go ahead is try URD out. And if you miss a feature, just post here and I'll see if I can implement it or perhaps it is even implemented already.
