All,

I am a newbie  and want to try URD.
I have ubuntu  11.10 x64 desktop (fresh install) and did the install via getdeb.

Now I am stocked in page 4/6 from the installation script.
I have the error message : Could not connect to database: mysqli error: [1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)] in CONNECT(localhost, 'root', '****', )Does anyone knows what went wong?

second: i was not able to to install Yencode as this is a tar.gz extention which sould be compiled by myself and as told I am a newbie in this. Is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks

Rob

The problem is probably "(using password: NO" meaning that you haven't filled in the root password of the database. If you don't know the password - you were asked when installing mysql you can reset it, or perhaps use the username / password from /etc/mysql/debian.cnf

Unfortunately there is no package anymore for yydecode in the latest ubuntu. So atm there is no other way than compiling it from source.

PS you don't need yencode, unless you want posting, but you do need yydecode for downloading.

Thanks Spearhead,
I am finely  in step 6/6.
As I am working with an SSD I do want to put my dbases on my internal hard disk and not on the SSD.
My Ubuntu drive is SDA3 and the hard drive is SDC1.
In 6/5 I have entered sdc1/media/Opslag/URD as my download directory.
I have also checked the permissions.

I now have a failure on: Download directory not fount or not writable.
Did I filled in the right path?

Thanks and have a nice Pasen Grin

You need a / before sdc1/media/Opslag/URD probably.
Also premissions may be a problem.
Code:
chgrp www-data /sdc1/media/Opslag/URD
chmod 775  /sdc1/media/Opslag/URD
should fix that
