0.5.5 "Now more stable than ever" |

Yes! The long awaited 0.5.5 release is here! We have been fixing bugs like mad, props to the people that pointed them out, you know who you are :) Short list of the biggest fixes: - Fixed a typo in the 'check version' code, breaking the check version feature :(
- Fixed bug where subscribing to certain newsgroups didn't work anymore after it 'broke' once
- Fixed a HTML escaping bug in the NZB generator, breaking the XML syntax
- Fixed bug in 'preview' feature where you got forwarded to a non-existing /tmp folder
- Fixed bug in telnet where a ^C would cause URDD to hang (DoS danger!)
- Fixed bug where unrar/unpar would wait until all downloads were finished
- Fixed bug in the 'file downloading' feature where the entire file was first stored in memory
And the new thing:
- Community based set info!
As an option, you can send and receive set info to/from the URD server. You'll have to have a
urdland.com forum account, which you need to enter into the configuration page. We need this
to block spammers or evildoers (see the Disclaimer page for privacy info).
The idea is to turn:
Big Buck Bunny (HD) [01/59] - "Big_Buck_Bunny_HD.part01.rar" yEnc into: Bick Buck Bunny (720p) English Complete with links to IMDB, movie rating, file quality, etcetera. So go ahead and try it out ! |

To make URD bigger & better :) - Let us know of bugs and problems, so we can fix them
- Tell us which feature(s) you're missing
- Recommend URD to people who might be interested
- Write about URD on blogs & forums
- Create new language packs
- Create new themes
The more people that use it, the more feedback we get, the better we can make URD.
Plus, with the community-based set information, the more people that use URD, the better the set information becomes :) And if someone were to make a good comparison of different usenet clients (including URD :P), we gain notability that we can use to clean up our Wikipedia page :) On a side note, 0.5.5 is almost done. We just need to fix a few more bugs, but you can expect a release in the next few days. |

0.5.3 is dead, long live 0.5.4! |

Sorry for that 0.5.3 version :P Our eagerness to release it had a side effect, in the way that several nasty bugs were still present. Downloading failed, and the scheduling of tasks had some 'timing issues'. However! In 0.5.4, these bugs are fixed and you should be able to profit from all those lovely features from the previous version, as well as some things we added in the meantime. Specifically: - Browse sets page is New and Improved (tm)
- It's now possible to manually edit set information *
- An "I forgot my password" option is added
- The URD menu is now hidden when the user isn't logged in
- Cleaned up some old, obsolete, files
- Fixed a bug that caused URDD to crash for news servers with a large welcome message
*) We're hoping to have a 'community system' in the next (++?) release, where 1 user's set-changes are automatically made available to all other URD users
